azz is one of the most vital and ever-changing musics in the world. Without continual innovation any artistic tradition can become lifeless. Jazz has always had the ability to cut across boundaries of time and space, revealing the unity among seemingly different cultures. There is a powerful relationship between tradition, defined as the continuity of culture, and creative freedom of innovation through the spirit of improvisation.

General Synod Laser Show
I was involved with the UCC's 50th Anniversary celebration at the Civic Center in Hartford, Connecticut. I arranged Henry van Dyke's Joyful, Joyful set to Ludwig van Beethoven's Hymn To Joy and added an original composition entitled Ubuntu, with lyrics by Cliff Aerie, as a dedication to Charles Townes, the inventor of the laser who was on hand to witness a laser show set to this music.

First YouTube Video
Pianist Bill Carter and I were guests on a piano jazz program that was held at the Amistad Chapel in Cleveland and moderated by Pastor Cliff Aerie. This is the first clip to be posted on the internet.
